MERGED SOULS
I’ve had the honor to capture a lot of incredible souls, moments, and energies over the years. It’s never lost on me how beautifully blessed I am to be trusted to document such an intimate part of someone’s life.
For the last 10 years or so, the women who have entered my life haven’t just entered it. They were magically blasted in against all logical probability, seemingly a gift from the universe in the most perfect timing. <She> is one of those women.
Unsurprisingly, moving to another country comes along with some feelings longing for people who *get* you…especially when learning a language and not being able to fully introduce your personality to others. Multiple people had now asked me; “Have you met <her> yet?? You must meet her. You two would really connect.”
The emphatic nature in which they’d asked this question had me very curious to meet her.
When we were eventually in a room together, I didn’t need an introduction, I knew it was <her> without having so much as seen a photograph. I started talking her ear off and within about 90 seconds I (almost threateningly) told her she was stuck with me. Followed by a psychotic giggle, of course.
Fortunately that didn’t scare her off and at a later date, she said to me “Oh how cute that you think this is the first time we’ve met…” in a way that had me wanting to turn in my spiritual woo card because clearly my journey is far behind hers (Inner voice: stop comparing your awakening journey with others’. *Rolls eyes*).
What an intense, beautiful, wise, warrior soul this goddess is. She lives in a cozy village paradise with her free range cats and grows her own garden and hosts drum making ceremonies and whips up a curation of herbs for a yoni steam in seconds and guides life-altering breathwork sessions, all of which I’m grateful to have been on the receiving end of. She taught me the dutch expression for “people like us”…. zweefteven which means “floating bitches”. Perfect.
Getting to know her and learning of the story behind her union with her beautiful white Arabian horse would give anyone chills. They crossed each other’s paths in universal gift-kind of way, and though he was bred to race, she was able to intercept and give him a home that allowed him to roam and run and play rather than be “ruined by humans”. According to her, though, he did even more for her than she did for him.
<her> words: “The most profound love stories are never those that first come to mind, yet this beautiful soul merged with mine from the moment we met. The unique relationship we have is so private and intimate, that to see it captured in this authentic way through the talented eye of Kara Marie made me cry out of pure happiness and gratitude.
The life transformation I have gone through, has only been possible having him by my side. He was the one who made me realise that true love knows no attachment, it is selfless, it is pure and rises beyond the illusion of self.”
After having witnessed the bond between these two majestic beings, I can tell you they are absolutely soulmates. The unspoken dialogue, the playfulness, the lessons passed back and forth between them, while beautiful, all pale in comparison to the palpable love and trust they have for each other.
I get goosebumps with each pass through these images. I’m filled with so much inspired adoration for these merged souls and am so grateful that I had the privilege to document them.
