DRAMATIC NAKEDNESS
I don’t use Chat GPT to write my copy- that’s all me, for better or for worse…but when I continued to see hilarious feed roasts popping up on IG, I decided to see what it had to say about mine.
“Fine art nudes, huh? We get it- you’ve mastered the art of DRAMATIC NAKEDNESS!” and I thought… “damn, that’s good! Keeping it.”
Last week in NYC, I guided a group of photographers through my Fine Ar...err…" “Dramatic Nakedness” workshop. As I near the end of this workshop tour, I have been so proud of the photographers in attendance who showed up willing to challenge themselves, to explore seeing the body in a more artistic way, and therefore to create BETTER ART. It’s amazing what a little bit of coaching can do to bring out the artist that is ALREADY THERE inside— albeit buried underneath the “should”s and “shouldn’t”s.
While teaching a full-day workshop, I myself only shoot for about 10 minutes, and usually at the very end…because it’s not my intention or in their best service to train photographers to shoot just like me. They have their own artistry and unique style inside of them. Instead, it’s my goal to point out possibilities, instruct on comfort and professionalism, ask questions, and encourage photographers to explore WHY and TO WHAT END they are shooting the way they’re shooting. I challenge evolution and purpose, not technical perfection or conformity.
That said, these are the captures that I created during my brief shoot time with our delightfully and dramatically naked muse Dana. These images are shot with feeling. They are shot with soul. They are in direct opposition to many of the rules I’ve learned along the way, and I love them more for it.
If you are a photographer looking to tap into your artistry of dramatically naked art, I invite you to invest in yourself by means of my final Fine Art Nude workshop happening in Scottsdale, Arizona November 8th, 2024.
